A Quick Update from Ben, Dean & the Roborough Vets Family
Hi everyone,
We just wanted to share a quick update with all of our clients. We’ll also be recording a short video over the next week where we’ll introduce ourselves properly and talk in a little more detail about our plans for Roborough Vets.
We know this is a longer post than usual, but we think it’s important that everyone understands who we are and the direction we’re taking the practice.

The welcome we’ve received from our clients and the local community has been incredible, and we’re genuinely grateful.
We know just how much Duncan meant to so many of you over the years. He built a practice based on trust, compassion and exceptional care, and we are honoured to continue that legacy.
Our Experience & Expertise
Between us, Dean and I have over 35 years of veterinary experience, working across first opinion practice, emergency medicine, referral hospitals and practice ownership.
Dean is a very experienced general practitioner and a certificate holder in Veterinary Ophthalmology, taking ophthalmology referrals from practices across Devon and Cornwall. Whereas I, prior to moving to the UK, owned and managed a busy 24-hour veterinary hospital in Australia.
Our Three Core Principles
Everything we do at Roborough Vets will be built around three simple values.

We are proud to remain an independent, family-owned veterinary practice.
Both Dean and I have young families ourselves (who certainly keep us busy outside work!), and we want Roborough Vets to be a genuine part of the local community.
As we settle in, we’d love to become involved in local pet events, charities and community groups. If you’re involved with an organisation that could benefit from our support, we’d love to hear from you.
❤️ Affordable & Accessible Care
We believe outstanding veterinary care should also be affordable.
We’ve already started reducing some of our fees and will continue reviewing our pricing over the coming months.
Our aim is simple—to be the most affordable veterinary practice in Plymouth without ever compromising the care your pets receive.
We believe every pet owner should have access to exceptional veterinary care without worrying that affordability means accepting lower standards.

We don’t believe affordability should ever come at the expense of quality.
Every pet deserves outstanding veterinary care. Between us we bring decades of experience, continue to pursue further qualifications and are committed to maintaining the highest clinical standards throughout the practice.

🏥 Clinic Improvements
We are rapidly growing and will be investing significantly in updating and expanding our facilities.
- Complete refurbishment inside and out
- A larger reception and waiting area
- Separate waiting areas for cats and dogs
- A dedicated pharmacy
- A second operating theatre designed for advanced ophthalmology and orthopaedic procedures
Work will begin within the next few weeks and has been carefully planned so we can remain open throughout.
🎨 A New Look
You’ll soon notice a refreshed brand, updated website and new social media pages that better reflect the future of Roborough Vets while respecting its long history.
👩⚕️ Growing Our Team
To support our growing client base we’ll be welcoming another veterinary surgeon and receptionist to the practice.
We’re also delighted that three of our fantastic team members (who somehow managed to synchronise their pregnancies perfectly!) will all be returning from maternity leave over the coming months. We can’t wait to have them back.
💷 Lower Fees
Over the next few weeks we’ll be reducing our fees even further.
Our standard consultation fee will reduce to £48, alongside further reductions and simpler pricing for preventative healthcare plans and routine procedures.
We’ll also be publishing a full price list on our website so our pricing is completely transparent.
Our goal is simple: to provide the highest standard of veterinary care at the fairest possible price, making Roborough Vets the most affordable veterinary practice in Plymouth without ever compromising on quality.
