Meet the Team

Our loyal and experienced team is what makes our practice special

Here at Roborough Vet, we are proud to say we have a dedicated work family, consisting of an amazing team of one permanent veterinary surgeon, three locum veterinary surgeons, six registered veterinary nurses, two receptionists and one animal nursing assistant.

We are a caring, friendly, laid-back practice that makes fun out of every day. Most importantly, we’re all here to help you keep your pets happy and healthy.

Kelly – Head Veterinary Nurse

Kelly has been with the practice for over 10 years. She is our head nurse and enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing. She takes a special interest in diabetic management and nutrition. At home, she has 1 dog and 2 cats and spends her spare time outdoors exploring the world with her daughter, husband and dog

Isabelle – Veterinary Nurse (on maternity leave)

Isabelle qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in June 2016 after completing her FdSc in Veterinary nursing at Duchy College, Rosewarne. She joined our team in July 2016 after finishing her training in a busy veterinary hospital. Outside of work Issy and her partner Dave are always doing jobs to complete the house they built for themselves, the rest of her time she spends looking after their drove of free range pigs (she has gained the nick name Mrs Hoggett) with the help of her pig/sheep/cattle dog Brian.

Kirsty – Veterinary Nurse

Kirsty qualified as an RVN in 2019 and joined our team in September 2022. She has always had a keen interest in animals and previously worked with horses for 13 years. She is currently a slave to a Border Collie, Irish Cob and two Holland Lop rabbits. In the past she has owned many species and breeds from sheep to a Bengal Eagle Owl. Two animal highlights for her have been working hands-on with a pack of wolves and while on CPD she pi-pi-pi-picked up a penguin!! She lives with her partner, and with his two boys they enjoy exploring the countryside and playing board games.

Mhairi – Veterinary Nurse

Mhairi qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2019 at Duchy college after completing a foundation degree. She joined the Team in February 2023 and has fitted in perfectly! She is very passionate about canine behaviour having worked with dogs for 14 years and is currently studying to become a canine behaviourist. Shannon – Veterinary Nurse

Shannon started working at our practice in February 2024. She qualified in level 3 Veterinary Nurse in November 2021. Shannon’s always been interested in all animals as she grew up on her family’s dairy farm. Every year Shannon shows her own Brown Swiss cows at the local and county shows, alongside her family’s herd of Holsteins. She also looks after her cat called Sox, and Jack Russel called Max.

Shana – Receptionist

“Yes, I’m the one that wears the flamboyant headgear”, but did you know that this lady was once a ‘Jenny Wren’ many moons ago?! After what seems like a lifetime in ladies’ retail, she decided to take more of a back seat. Two years ago she was given the opportunity to join Duncan, Hazel and the Roborough Vet family, and long may it continue. Shana has two gorgeous Cocker Spaniels called Wilson and Murdoch.

Louise – Receptionist

Louise joined our team in July 2022, but has worked as a veterinary receptionist in a busy vet hospital for 13 years prior to coming here! She enjoys all aspects of being a front-of-house member of staff, including meeting and greeting all our lovely clients and their pets. Louise is in charge of our social media accounts and helps maintain our website, in fact, she’s our go-to for anything to do with computers or technology! Louise also maintains the Pet Health Plan memberships and helps to process the insurance claims in practice. She lives with her son at home and has a small ‘zoo’ consisting of two dogs, two cats, a Yemen chameleon, a Panther Chameleon annnnd four goldfish! Crazy!

Shannon – Animal Nursing Assistant

Shannon has been volunteering here at Roborough Vet since August 2022 as her placement for her student animal nursing assistant qualification, and she will be fully qualified in May 2023. She is now officially a member of the team and will be here 3 days a week! Shannon lives with her family and their fur babies Flo and Fifi the Sprocker Spaniels and two rescue rabbits Dusty and Hopper. She has always been very passionate about animals and knew this is the correct path for her. When the time is right she is hoping to become a veterinary nurse and have the career she has always dreamt of!
